Senior Portrait FAQs
Kathy King Photography is a boutique portrait studio focusing on the unique experience of each individual. Our vibrant and artistic approach to senior portraiture results in images that are individually tailored to each senior. We strive to provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime experience in order to give you the memories – and the exceptional art for your home – that you deserve.
How much will portraits cost?
The portrait session and final images that you select is entirely dependent on you. We understand that the session type that you choose is dependent on your individual style and tastes, and that each person’s image needs vary.
There is a minimum investment required with each type of session, and once the session is photographed the investment is due to the studio as compensation for services rendered.
Depending on the session that you choose, you will have a minimum of 25-70 images to select from at your ordering appointment.
We have several portrait options to select from. You will make your final decisions at your ordering appointment, and full payment is due at that time.
When is the minimum purchase requirement due?
When you book your senior portrait session at Kathy King Photography, you are making a commitment to the minimum investment corresponding to the session that you choose.
Once the session has been photographed, the minimum purchase requirement must be paid in full at the ordering appointment as compensation for services rendered (whether product selections are made or not). As our schedules allow for a limited number of sessions per year, we must turn down other clients in order to provide the services agreed upon. Thus, compensation is due in full at the time of the ordering appointment.
Do you photograph guys’ senior portraits?
Absolutely! We love showing off the individual style of our guys, whatever it may be – fashion, sports, urban, skateboarding, techy, whatever your style is we love to focus on having fun and showing off YOUR individual style.
Do I have to come in for a consultation? Can’t I just book a session over the phone?
While we don’t require an in-person consultation, we do highly recommend it if you are new to Kathy King Photography. This way we can show you examples of our portrait art, and work with you to select the perfect senior session for your once-in-a-lifetime experience.
However, if an in-person consultation is not an option, we can go over everything you need to know over the phone. We want to ensure that your senior portrait session is everything you want and more, and we strive to make this experience one that you will never forget.
Where do you photograph sessions?
From town or country settings to custom locations, we create the senior experience that YOU want. We like to photograph both indoors and on location to give you a variety of looks to show off your unique, individual style. We’ll have some location suggestions for you to choose from, but of course, we’re open to your suggestions!
How many outfits can I bring?
As MANY as you like! Our sessions are based on time, so your number of outfits are NOT limited. In general, we can typically photograph 3-4 outfits per hour, but depends on the amount of time you spend changing outfits. The more time you spend between outfits, the fewer outfits we will get to, and vice versa.
We encourage you to bring LOTS of options, and we will assist you in selecting the best variety of looks to make your senior portrait session the best experience it can be.
How long do you keep my image files?
All ordered images are archived for a period of 1 year. Images that are not ordered at your ordering appointment are removed from our system following your ordering appointment. We do not archive any files that are not ordered at that time.
Can I change the way I wear my hair during the session?
Of course! If you simply want to change up your look a little during your session – such as pulling your hair back or up for certain outfits, you can absolutely do that during any of our sessions. We LOVE variety and love to show off your multiple styles.
If you want to wear your hair in distinctly different ways – such as curly and straight, you will need to book our longer session to allow for the time involved to change your hair.
